Cambodian FM to attend 1st Mekong-Lancang River cooperation in China next week

Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong will lead a delegation to attend the 1st Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting in China next week, according to a statement on Thursday.

The meeting will be held from Nov. 11 to 13 in Jinghong City of southwest China's Yunnan Province,the statement said.

His upcoming participation is made at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, said the statement released by the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The meeting will discuss the establishment of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation structure and have an exchange of views on Early Harvest Projects List covering cooperation in water resources management, public health, science and technology, and culture," it said.

The meeting will also look into the relationship of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation with other sub-regional frameworks such as the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Economic Cooperation Program and ASEAN Mekong Basin Development Cooperation, the statement added.

The Lancang-Mekong River runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, and serves as a natural bond that links the six countries together. Enditem
