Chinese shares jump over 3 pct in afternoon trading

Chinese shares rallied in the afternoon session in the country's A-share market with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index (SCI) rising by over 3 percent.

The SCI hit 3,575 points shortly after the opening of the afternoon trading, propped up by strong performance of companies in financial sector, ship building and infrastructure construction.

The index opened slightly lower from the previous trading day in the morning. Endi
