The United Kingdom's sports authorities are managing a bilateral collaboration in Cuba to develop talents in athletics, announced the Caribbean island's media on Wednesday
Catherine Sweet, the International Development Adviser for UK Sport - the UK Government's organization for directing the British sports movement - arrived in Havana on November 2 accompanied by Stuart Attwell, Major Events organizer for UK Athletics (the European countries governing body for athletics).
The main objective of the visit is to exchange experiences and promote a work program, especially with children and young people, so that they are motivated to get into athletics and therefore will boost the two nations' talent pools, according to Sweet.
"The sport will further strengthen relations between the United Kingdom and Cuba," said Sweet.
Attwell said he was happy with how the work meeting with executives from the Cuban Federation for athletics went, in particular with its President Alberto Juantorena.
"Greater cooperation will boost development of the field and track in both countries in a special way," added Attwell.
During their stay in the Cuban capital, the two British executives will visit the High Performance High School "Giraldo Cordova Cardin" and the Latin American Stadium where they will meet with Cuban athletics' youngest talents. Endi
