1st LD: 6.2-magnitude quake strikes off Timor-Leste

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake jolted Timor-Leste on Wednesday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualties, Indonesian officials said.

The Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency measured the quake at 6.2 magnitude but the USGS said it was at 6.3 scale.

The quake struck at 10:44 a.m. Jakarta time (0344 GMT) with the epicenter 28 km northeast of East Nusa Tenggara of Indonesia at a depth of 89 km, the agency said.

No damages or casualties were reported so far in Indonesia, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of the national disaster management agency, told Xinhua. Enditem
