Up to Tuesday morning four more trains with a total of 4,333 refugees on board have arrived in Slovenia since 7 p.m. on Monday, bringing the total number since Oct. 17 to almost 135,000, Slovenian police statistics show.
Dobova crossing, in southern Slovenian border region with a railway hub connecting the main railway line from Croatia, is now the main entry point for refugees coming into the country.
The refugees arriving at Dobova crossing would be taken by trains and coaches to refugee centres closer to Austria once they are registered and supplied with basic care. This now became a routine after two weeks of operations by Slovenian authorities, according to the Slovenian Press Agency (STA).
Currently accommodated about 2,800 refugees, Sentilj in the northeast on the border with Austria is now another stronger refugee accommodation centre before leaving Slovenia for Austria. Others were taken to Jesenice in the northwest and Vrhnika inland.
The Austrian authorities received 6,580 migrants from the Sentilj centre last night, data from the Maribor police shows. But the centre is accepting new arrivals, the STA report said.
A total of 134,984 refugees have arrived in the country since the migrant route was diverted via Slovenia as Hungary closed its border with Croatia on Oct. 17, Slovenian police statistics by 6 a.m. on Tuesday show. Endit
