FIFA U17 World Cup quarterfinals to be under pressure

Xinhua, November 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

Mexico against Ecuador, a classical Latin American game, and Belgium against Costa Rica will be the last quarter finals of Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be played on Monday.

In their previous games, both Mexico and Ecuador beat their rivals. Mexico defeated Chile 4-1 and Ecuador, with the same score, defeated Russia.

Despite the efforts of Chile, the host team, Mexico showed greater desire to reach the tournaments final.

Ecuador also had an outstanding performance against Russia. So now the challenge will be against the Mexican squad.

The Latin American teams will face at Francisco Sanchez Rumoroso Stadium, in Coquimbo. It will be all or nothing for both teams.

On the other hand, Costa Rica defeated France 5-3 in penalties. The Central American country could reach semifinal and give the Latin American region a second opportunity to reach finals, just as Africa did with Nigeria and Mali.

Costa Rica will face Belgium at Ester Roa Municipal Stadium in Concepción. Belgium reached Round of 16 because it was one of the best third places in the group phase and then defeated South Korea 2-0.

Nigeria will play against the winner of Mexico-Ecuador while Mali will face the winner between Costa Rica and Belgium, both games on Nov.5. The tournaments final will be on Sunday Nov.8.  Endi
