The remains of 144 victims aboard Saturday's crashed Russian airliner in Egypt will arrive here early on Monday on a chartered flight, Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

With assistance from the municipal government's Civil Registration Department and a local insurance company, St. Petersburg crematorium would identify the bodies.

Family members of the victims, who are asked to assist the authorities in identifying the bodies, have also received psychological assistance from the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Local and federal government agencies have made arrangements for the crematorium to start the job as soon as possible.

The Airbus A-321 operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia, with 217 Russian passengers and seven crew members onboard, crashed early Saturday in the Sinai Peninsula shortly after it took off from Egypt's Red Sea Resort Sharm el-Sheikh. No survivor has been reported from the crash.

Shortly after the disaster, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko declared an official period of mourning for the victims till Tuesday.

Several thousand residents converged on the city's Palace Square on Saturday night to commemorate the victims. Endi
