Higgins equals Steve Davis' 28-title glory at Snooker International Championship

John Higgins beat David Gilbert 10-5 in the final of World Snooker International Championship to equal Steve Davis' s 28-title glory here in Daqing, China.
Higgins gradually picked up the touch of winning the match by defeating Shawn Murphy 6-0 and World No.1 Mark Selby in semifinal. David Gilbert played the role of dark horse in this year' s Championship with the victories over Marco Fu, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and other players.
Sunday' s match started with Gilbert' s 64-53 win before Higgins hit back with 71-33. Gilbert had a 100-point break in the third frame to lead again but Higgins responded with winning three straight frame down. After a 4-4 tie, Higgins established a 5-4 lead with a 108-point break performance to finish the first session.
Gilbert only tasted victory in the twelfth frame in the night session with Higgins had five 50+ breaks in six frames.
Higgins equaled Steve Davis' 28 ranking event titles achievement after winning the title of Daqing.
"It' s a special moment for me to get to 28 ranking titles," said the "Wizard of Wishaw" , "Steve Davis was my hero growing up and back then I would never have dreamed I could equal any of his records. It' s a moment I will never forget."
