At least 12 people were killed Sunday as Al-Shabaab militants stormed a hotel in Mogadishu, capital of Somalia, police and witnesses said.

LONDON -- A group of people have clashed with police in central London when the latter tried to stop an illegal rave, according to a statement released Sunday by Britain's Metropolitan Police.

ATHENS -- Eleven refugees drowned after a six-meter-long plastic dinghy carrying people from Turkey to Greek shores capsized in the Aegean Sea on Sunday, the Greek Coast Guard announced.
Five women, two children and four infants drowned, most of whom were found trapped inside the dinghy, while 15 refugees were rescued by Greek Coast Guard, local volunteers and divers. (Greece-Refugee)

LASHKAR GAH, Afghanistan -- Up to 30 Taliban fighters were killed in Nahr-e-Saraj district of the southern Helmand province on Sunday, provincial police chief Nabi Jan Mullahkhil said.
"Scores of Taliban militants stormed police checkpoints on Helmand-Kandahar highway in Nahr-e-Saraj district at 10:00 a.m. local time today which triggered heavy gun battle and lasted till 03:00 p.m. local time leaving 30 insurgents dead, forcing others to flee," Mullahkhil told Xinhua. JERUSALEM -- The Israeli military said Sunday it shot and killed a knife-wielding Palestinian after he tried to stab a soldier during a violent protest near the West Bank city of Hebron.
