Palestinian killed amid clashes in West Bank

Xinhua, November 1, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Israeli military said Sunday it shot and killed a knife-wielding Palestinian after he tried to stab a soldier during a violent protest near the West Bank city of Hebron.

The Israeli military said the Palestinian attempted to stab a soldier during a violent riot in the village of Beit Einun, and the soldiers at the scene responded to the immediate threat and shot the attacker, resulting in his death.

Police said no Israelis were injured in the incident.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was a 29-year-old resident of the area.

The shooting came as Israeli forces are increasingly accused of using excessive force to fight a wave of Palestinian violence, which has resulted in the death or injury of Palestinians who were not posing threat to the troops.

The month-long unrest has seen the deaths of 11 Israelis and at least 71 Palestinians. Endit
