EU's Juncker expresses condolences over Sinai plane crash

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Saturday expressed condolences over the Sinai plane crash, saying the European Union stand with the Russian people and with the families of the victims.

"I was saddened to learn about the loss of so many lives in the plane crash over Sinai earlier today," he said in a statement, noting that he offered profound sorrow and deepest condolences to the people of Russia and particularly to the families of the victims and their loved ones.

"The relevant European authorities are ready to provide any necessary assistance in the investigations following this tragedy," he said.

An airplane which was operated by Russian airline Kogalymavia and carried 217 Russian passengers along with seven crew members crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula shortly after it took off from the Red Sea Resort Sharm el-Sheikh early Saturday. Endit
