Severe storms cause damage in central Texas

Severe storms destroyed homes and vehicles and caused major damage to schools and other structures in the U.S. state of Texas on Friday.
Fifteen homes were damaged and five others completely destroyed earlier Friday after a possible tornado hit near Seguin, a city in central Texas, local English daily the Houston Chronicle reported.
Tornadoes also were reported and caused major damage in the areas around the central Texas city of San Antonio, where two school buses among several high-level water rescues.
In Floresville, a city about 24 km southeast of San Antonio, a recreation vehicle trailer was blown on top of a three-story hotel and classes have been canceled.
Meanwhile, widespread flooding was reported earlier Friday in central Texas, such as Wimberley, the San Marcos and Blanco rivers in San Marcos and along the Guadalupe River near Seguin.
As a result, dozens of roads have been closed and local authorities have ordered residents in such places to evacuate to safer areas.
Flash flood, tornado watch and warnings continued into the afternoon and the National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency for many parts of the counties like Hays, Travis, Comal and far northwest Bexar.
Strong storms sweep east through the state, and problems are expected to hit Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States on Friday night. Enditem
