Beijing suburb to eliminate polluting factories

Xinhua, October 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Authorities in Beijing's suburban Tongzhou District vowed on Thursday that they will close all polluting enterprises in the district by the end of 2017.

Tongzhou has already phased out more than 280 enterprises since 2012, and sources with the district said they plan to close 48 more this year.

Beijing's municipal government has announced that it will move some of its departments to Tongzhou, situated in the city's eastern outskirts, over the coming years as part of a regional development plan. Endi
