Xinhua, October 29, 2015 Adjust font size:
China will use regional strategies and greater integration of the Internet with traditional industry to drive economic growth in the next five years, the Communist Party of China (CPC) said after a key meeting on Thursday.
The 18th CPC Central Committee concluded its fifth plenary session on Thursday after reviewing proposals for the country's national economic and social development from 2016-2020.
The regional strategy entails forming economic belts along major rivers, roads and railways as well as in coastal regions, and giving special attention to several key economic areas, according to a communique released following the meeting.
The "Internet Plus" action plan aims to make outmoded industries more efficient by persuading them to use the Internet more.
The country will also boost the development of sharing economy and the big data sector, according to the communique.
The CPC stressed the role of technological innovation in creating future growth, vowing to roll out a series of national projects and play a leading role in international science projects.
There will be more official moves to upgrade the economy into a global manufacturing power, cultivate strategic industries and modernize the agricultural and service sectors, said the communique. Endi
