Chinese defense minister to attend ASEAN summit

Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan will attend the third ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus in Kuala Lumpur next month, the Defense Ministry announced on Thursday.

The meeting is scheduled from Monday to Thursday, involving defense ministers from the 10 ASEAN nations and their regional dialogue partners, including Australia, China, Japan, India, South Korea, New Zealand, Russia and the United States.

Chang will table China's proposals on enhancing defense exchanges and cooperation with countries in the region, as well as China's position on regional and international security issues, spokesperson Yang Yujun said in a media briefing.

Chang will also pay official visits to Malaysia and Cambodia, at the invitation of Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh, according to Yang. Endi
