Nikkei retreats in morning as factory output data lowers hopes for monetary easing

Xinhua, October 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks retreated slightly at the end of the morning session, as an unexpected rise in Japan's factory output data led some market players to believe that the Bank of Japan may hold out a little longer before unveiling fresh monetary easing measures to shore up the economy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 17.18 points, or 0.09 percent, from Wednesday to 18,885.84, while the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange dropped 3.15 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,544.04.

Securities, miscellaneous products and air transport issues comprise the morning's notable decliners. Enditem
