Bolivia name uncapped 17-year-old for qualifiers

Xinhua, October 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bolivia coach Julio Cesar Baldivieso has named uncapped 17-year-old midfielder Moises Villarroel for the national team's World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Paraguay next month.

Villarroel, a Bolivia U-17 international, made 20 appearances for local top-flight outfit Blooming before signing with Chile's Universidad de Chile in July.

Six of the 31 players named by Baldivieso were not born in Bolivia. Among those to have changed their allegiance is Brazilian-born Fernando Martelli, a center-back for La Paz-based club The Strongest.

As expected, Baldivieso left out former Wigan Athletic striker Marcelo Moreno and defender Ronald Raldes. The pair fell out with the coach after the team's 7-0 friendly loss to Argentina in September.

Currently last in the South American zone standings, Bolivia will host Venezuela in La Paz on November 12 before confronting Paraguay in Asuncion five days later.
