Albania approves law on employment promotion

Xinhua, October 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

National Labor Council of Albania Tuesday approved a draft law designed to encourage people to work and accept jobs offered by labor agencies, Albanian Daily News reported.

The approval came at a time when the country faces employment difficulty, with labor agencies reporting 150,000 job requests and only 26,800 job vacancies, said Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Blendi Klosi, whose ministry compiled the draft law.

"We cannot accept that unemployed people refuse to work while they are registered as unemployed in labor agencies," Klosi said, adding that a person registered as unemployed in job agencies must accept the offered job and participate in qualifying courses offered by the institution he or she works for.

According to the law, the minister said, those who refuse to work will have their status of being unemployed deprived and will not receive economic aid. Endi
