Slovak gov't to apply buying option in Slovak energy utility SE

Xinhua, October 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Slovak government wants to apply the option of buying 17 percent of Slovenske Elektrarne's (SE) shares and increase its stake to 51 percent, announced Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on Tuesday.

However, the contingent would be on Italian company Enel selling the first half of its 66-percent stake in Slovak energy utility Slovenske Elektrarne (SE) and blocks III and IV of the Mochovce nuclear plant being completed.

Fico reiterated that completion of the nuclear power plant was a priority and that the deal would not go through until it was constructed.

"Otherwise, it's up to Enel what it does with its shares," stressed Fico.

Meanwhile, Enel is currently holding exclusive talks on selling the first half of its stake in SE with Czech company Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (EPH). Undeclared sources said a general agreement on the sale has already been made and the transfer should be concluded within a month. Endit
