France to boosts aid to Lebanon over refugee crisis

Visiting French Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, announced Monday that his country will take further procedures to assist Lebanon in coping with the Syrian refugee crisis.

Cazeneuve arrived Monday for a brief visit following French Senate head Gerard Larche's visit.

During a joint press conference held with his Lebanese counterpart, Nohad Mashnouq, Cazeneuve said France will back additional measures to support Lebanon, and Syria's other neighbors, as well as refugee-hosting communities, to counter challenges caused by the refugee crisis.

"I am here to relay France's solidarity with Lebanon in facing Syria's refugee crisis, especially as Lebanon is host to 1.2 million refugees" he added.

Cazeneuve also stressed French support to Lebanon in its "fight against terrorism, cooperation in the security field and Syria's refugees." Endit
