Two civilians were killed while four wounded in a bomb attack in Jalalabad city, eastern Afghanistan on Monday morning, police said.
"A roadside bomb was detonated along a main road when a vehicle of Afghan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) was passing by the area, causing two killed and four injured," a provincial police source told Xinhua anonymously.
The casualties were shifted to a nearby hospital in the city, which is the capital of Nangarhar province, 120 km east of Afghan capital of Kabul, the source said.
The two killed and three injured, including a woman, were provincial staff members of AIHRC and one passerby was also wounded in the blast, he noted.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since mid-April when the militant group launched its annual rebel offensive against security forces.
The Taliban urged civilians to stay away from official gatherings, military convoys and centers regarded as the legitimate targets by militants besides warning people not to support the government.
Nearly 1,600 civilians were killed and more than 3,300 others wounded in conflicts and attacks in the first half of the year, according to UN mission figures. Enditem
