Tokyo shares open higher with Nikkei recovering 19,000 line

Tokyo shares open remarkably higher on Monday with its benchmark Nikkei stock index recovering the 19,000 line on interest rate cut by the Chinese central bank.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 234.95 points, or 1.25 percent higher from Friday to 19,060.25.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 19.57 points, or 1.26 percent, to 1,567.41. Endit
