Internacional keep alive Libertadores hopes

Xinhua, October 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Internacional maintained their hopes of a top-four finish in Brazil's Serie A championship with a 1-0 victory over Joinville on Saturday.

CSKA Moscow loanee Vitinho headed in a 65th-minute winner for the hosts on an Andres D'Alessandro corner.

The result at the Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre lifted Internacional to fifth in the standings, behind fourth-placed Santos on goal difference with six matches remaining.

The top four teams at the end of the season will earn a berth in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's top club competition.

In other matches on Saturday, Atletico Paranaense won 1-0 at Fluminense and Santos drew 0-0 at Figueirense. Endi
