S. African President Zuma scraps planned university tuition hike

South African President Jacob Zuma on Friday scrapped planned tuition fee hike at a meeting with students and university vice chancellors.

The announcement was cheered by thousands of protesting students, parents and activists gathering outside the Union Buildings, the seat of the government.

"We have agreed that there should be a zero increase," Zuma said in a televised address. Endit
