India to test tsunami warning system

Xinhua, October 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

India will test its newly installed Tsunami Early Warning System siren in Mumbai on Oct. 26, sources said Friday.

"The tsunami siren will be tested around 12 p.m. (local time) for 10 minutes with a likely pause every one minute," the sources said.

If the test emerges successful, then it will be put to use in case of a possible tsunami threat in the region," they said.

The Tsunami Early Warning System, which comprises of a siren and an electronic display board, has been installed at the Meteorology Office of the Western Naval Command in Mumbai. Endit
