15 killed, 30 injured in central Pakistan's road accident

Xinhua, October 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

At least 15 people were killed and 30 others injured when a bus carrying pilgrims overturned near Pakistan's central Mian Channu district on Thursday night, local media reported.

Abb Takk News said that the driver lost control over the over-speeding bus when it was negotiating a sharp turn at Vihari road of Mian Channu, a district located in the country's east Punjab province.

The ill-fated bus was carrying 54 pilgrims from the Vihari city to attend the annual celebrations at a saint's shrine in east Jhang district when it met the accident.

The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital where some of them are said to be in critical condition.

Road accidents frequently happen in Pakistan due to poorly maintained roads, violation of road safety rules and reckless driving.

Traffic police officials say that 90 percent accidents in the country are caused merely by human error. Endit
