British FTSE 100 increases 0.44 pct on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday increased by 0.44 percent, or 27.86 points, to 6,376.28 points.

Britain retail sales rose 6.5 percent year-on-year in September, well above analysts' expectations of 4.7 percent, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Share price of Glencore increased by 6.24 percent, topping the gainers of the blue chips. Ashtead Group, Vodafone Group, GKN and Antofagasta increased by 4.00 percent, 3.92 percent, 3.38 percent and 3.12 percent respectively.

Travis Perkins led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 5.71 percent, followed by Pearson (5.01 percent), Kingfisher (3.93 percent), Smiths Group (2.52 percent) and Wolseley (1.81 percent). Endit
