Ukraine and Vietnam should intensify efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation in agriculture to tap their huge potential in this field, Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Olexiy Pavlenko said here Thursday.
"Cooperation in agriculture between Ukraine and Vietnam has great potential taking into account broad prospects and opportunities for trade and sectoral collaboration," Pavlenko was quoted as saying by the Agriculture Ministry's press service.
A gradual liberalization of trade policy and diversification of commodities are key to boosting trade in food products between the two countries, Pavlenko said.
Moreover, he said agricultural trade turnover between Ukraine and Vietnam reached 41.6 million U.S. dollars in the first eight months of 2015, with Ukraine's exports amounting to 14.1 million dollars and imports standing at 27.5 million dollars.
Currently, Ukraine's main agricultural exports to Vietnam are seeds, meat and dairy products, while Vietnam exports fish, rice, spices, fruits and nuts to Ukraine. Endi
