Chinese vice premier meets Australian former PM

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard here on Thursday.

Gillard, also chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Global Partnership for Education, was in Beijing for an international seminar on anti-poverty and children development.

Liu said the Chinese government pursues a children-first principle, attaches high importance to the environment of children's growth. She hoped the international community could strengthen cooperation to create a better future for children worldwide.

Gillard said the Global Partnership for Education will be active in its cooperation with China. Endi
