Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing's plan to build a "London-Hong Kong Connect" scheme will bring good opportunities to Hong Kong, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said Thursday.
During his question-and-answer session at the Legislative Council, Leung said the plan will bring many opportunities to Hong Kong, which the region should take advantage of to boost economic development.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Wednesday for the proposed development of a trading link between the Hong Kong Futures Exchange (HKFE) and the London Metal Exchange, and a clearing link between the HKFE Clearing Corporation and LME Clear Limited.
It was signed as part of the co-operation initiatives announced at a ceremony led by Chinese President Xi Jinping and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
On helping young people start a business, Leung said the government is committed to creating a facilitating environment for them, such as the provision of co-working spaces for start-ups. Endit
