Italian cyclist Modolo wins third stage at 2015 Tour of Hainan

Xinhua, October 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Thanks to his brilliant final sprint, Italian cyclist Sachs Modolo from the Lampre-Merida team won the third stage of 2015 Tour of Hainan in three hours, five minutes and two seconds on Thursday.

The third stage stretched from Wenchang to Haikou, covering a total distance of 130.7 kilometers with two intermediate sprints.

Modolo also grabbed the green jersey from his fellow Andrea Palini of the Skydive Dubai Pro team. However, Palini still kept the yellow jersey representing the leader of general classification.

China's Ma Guangtong from the Hengxiang cycling team got the blue jersey representing the best Asian rider.

Modolo said, "We sprinted too early yesterday. Today the final kilometer was wide, I sprinted with 150 meter to go and made it."

"The final road is wide and it was easy for other riders to overtake," Palini told press after the race.

This year's Tour of Hainan lasts 9 days, and the fourth stage that scheduled on Friday will be a stretched race from Haikou to Chengmai, covering 237 kilometers. Endi
