Chinese PM congratulates Canada's Trudeau on election

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has congratulated Justin Trudeau on his election as Canadian prime minister.

In a congratulatory message dated Wednesday, Li said that China-Canada relations have made strides since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Contacts at different levels between the two countries have flourished, cooperation and exchanges in different fields have been fruitful, and mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples have been deepened, said the Chinese premier.

Li pledged to work with Trudeau to further dialogues and expand exchanges and cooperation so as to carry forward China-Canada relations.

Trudeau is set to become the new Canadian prime minister after his Liberal Party won a landslide victory in Monday's federal elections. Endi
