Atletico Madrid enjoyed an easy 4-0 win at home to Astana in the Vicente Calderon Stadium on Wednesday night.

The win against a side that arrived in Madrid with only four substitutes, means that Diego Simeone's side have six points from their opening two Champions League group game and if they are able to win on the return leg in Kazakhstan in a fortnight, they will have just about assured their progress to the last 16.

After a slow start, Atletico scored two rapid goals through Saul Niguez and Jackson Martinez. Saul scoring from close range following a corner, while Martinez, hit the net with a left foot shot after a pass from Niguez.

Atletico were also on top at the start of the second half and coach Diego Simeone had the luxury of substitution midfielder, Tiago Cardoso and Antoine Griezmann to preserve them for their league match this weekend.

Meanwhile Niguez and Martinez both went close before the hour, before Oliver Torres, who had replaced Tiago at the break, made it 3-0 with a lovely chip from just inside the penalty area.

An own goal from Denis Dedechko two minutes from the end rounded off the scoring and gave Atletico the leadership of their qualifying group.

Real Madrid drew 0-0 away to Paris Saint Germain, a result which will leave both sides reasonably content as they continue to enjoy a comfortable advantage in their qualifying group.

Finally football was cruel on Sevilla who deserved more than suffering a last minute 2-1 defeat away to Manchester City.

Gregortz Krychoviak gave Sevilla as Unai Emery's side surprised the Premier League leaders, who soon drew level through an Adil Rami own goal following a shot from Wilfred Bony.

Sevilla proceeded to create and miss a host of chances and paid a heavy price when Kevin De Bruyne broke their hearts with a magnificent left foot shot in the 92nd minute of the game. Endit
