Xinhua, October 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's five-year treasury bond futures opened higher on Wednesday, with the contract for settlement in December opening up 0.12 percent at 100.3 yuan (about 15.8 U.S. dollars).

The contract for settlement in March 2016 opened 0.12 percent higher at 100.28 yuan. The contract for settlement in June 2016 also gained 0.12 percent to open at 100.405 yuan.

The contracts are agreements to buy or sell treasury bonds at a predetermined price and set date. They allow investors to bet on or profit from the movements in the value of the bonds.

The treasury bond futures were launched at the Shanghai-based China Financial Futures Exchange and started trading on Sept. 6, 2013. Endi
