Aussie dollar slips in overnight trade

Xinhua, October 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

A late strengthening in the U.S. dollar overnight saw the Aussie dollar pare back gains following upbeat comments from Australia's central bank on the local economy.

At 0700 local time (AEDT) on Wednesday, the Australian dollar was trading at 72.61 U.S. cents, down from 72.69 U.S. cents on Tuesday's Asian close.

The Aussie dollar gained on Tuesday after the released minutes of the Reserve Bank of Australia's October board meeting indicated at the time that there wasn't an immediate risk of additional easing while being comfortable with the current exchange rate.

BK Asset Management managing director Kathy Lien said the local unit had been trading higher throughout the session until a strengthening greenback clawed back gains.

At 1016 local time (AEDT), the Australian dollar was trading at 72.64 U.S. cents. Endit
