Italian clubs lead race for Brazilian teenager

Xinhua, October 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Highly-rated teenager Gabriel Jesus has drawn interest from top clubs in Italy, according to Brazilian media on Tuesday.

But any bid to take the 18-year-old away from Palmeiras could be stymied by a 30 million-euro buyout clause, the Uol portal said.

Gabriel was promoted to Palmeiras' first team in January after scoring 37 goals in 22 matches for the club's U-17 team last year.

He has since made 28 appearances for the eight-time Brazilian Serie A champions and scored seven goals.

Despite being eligible for Brazil's U-20 team, Gabriel was earlier this year called up for the national U-23 side, scoring on his debut against Republica Dominicana. Endi
