Indian PM congratulates Trudeau for winning Canada's general elections

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Justin Trudeau for his Liberal Party's victory in Canada's general elections.

"Congratulations Justin Trudeau for victory in Canadian parliamentary elections. We share a strong bond of democracy and inclusiveness enriched by a vibrant Indian diaspora," Modi tweeted.

The Indian prime minister also recalled his visit to that country early this year. "I have fond memories of my visit to Canada in April 2015 and my meeting with you," he said.

Led by Trudeau, the Liberal Party won Canada's general elections, putting an end to nearly a decade of Conservative rule. He is the 43-year-old son of late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. Endit
