Myanmar to boost sports standard through master plan

Myanmar Ministry of Sports is planning to boost sports standard by implementing a sport master plan (2015-2030), sources with the ministry said Tuesday.

Under the plan, the ministry in cooperation with Switzerland-based Altair Group will carry out three main pillars including processes, installation of sports equipment and formation of organizations.

Based on these pillars, the ministry will focus on the training of outstanding athletes, education of youths, fitness, medal taking at international competitions, and coopertion with other countries.

Since 2013, sports academies have been opened in Yangon and Mandalay regions.

A sport university is being constructed in Nay Pyi Taw to be able to open in 2016-17 academic year.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar Football Federation is expecting to use about six million U.S. dollars in 2016 for the development of football. Endi
