Italian Andrea Palini of Skydive Dubai Pro Cycling Team grabbed a circuit race win in Wanning, China on Monday in the opening stage of 2015 Tour of Hainan.

Palini became the first racer putting on the yellow jersey in this annual event this year.

Palini, who competed in the event for the second time, also won the green jersey that represents the best sprinter, while Hossein Alizadeh from RTS-SANTIC Cycling Tram was awarded the blue jersey that represents the best Asian rider.

"My win in the opening stage was a result of team efforts. My team asked me to take lead and make a final spurt," Palini told press after the race.

"Tour of Hainan saved my career. I didn't do well prior to the 2014 version. I had a few wins in Hainan 2014, which raised my confidence and put me back on a right track," Palini said.

The 76.1km first stage is a circuit race in Wanning, which locates in southeastern part of Hainan, the southernmost province of China.

This year's Tour of Hainan will last nine days, and the next stage will be from Wanning to Wenchang, an eastern city of Hainan, covering a total distance of 188.3 kilometers. Endi
