An Indian court Tuesday convicted Uber driver Shiv Kumar Yadav for raping a woman passenger last December.

Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja convicted Yadav for various offenses under the Indian Penal Code. Yadav was held guilty for rape, causing grievous bodily harm and for the offense of endangering the life of a woman.

The convict's sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 22. The victim was a finance executive working in Gurgaon, the business city near Delhi.

The Indian capital has been incessantly hit by crimes against women and children.
