Singapore stocks close 1.12 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 33.61 points, or 1.12 percent, to close at 3032.11.

A total of 1.81 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1. 36 billion Singapore dollars (965.6 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 295 to 147, while 491 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 51.47 points, or 1.75 percent, to close at 2,998.50 on Oct. 9. Endi
