France provides 236 million-USD loan to Jordan

Xinhua, October 12, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordan on Sunday signed three loan agreements with the French Development Agency worth 268 million U.S. dollars, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The agreements that were inked following talks between Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour and his visiting French counterpart Manuel Valls pave the way for projects on water and renewable energy in Jordan, the report said.

They also talked about increasing aid to Syrian refugees, a heavy burden on Jordan as there are some 1.5 million Syrians that amounts to 21 percent of the population in the country.

Valls said France deems Jordan as a very important partner and player for stability in the region, vowing to provide more support to the kingdom. Endit
