India's ruling alliance to win local legislative election in eastern state: survey

The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the legislative election of the eastern Indian state of Bihar in the polls which will begin next week, said a survey on Friday.
The BJP-led NDA in Bihar would win 162 seats in the 243-seat local assembly, while the opposition JD(U)-RJD-Congress combine set to win only 51 seats, said a poll survey by Zee News and survey agency Janta Ka Mood.
In the overall percentage share of votes, the survey said the NDA will get 54.8 percent compared with the opposition alliance with 40.2 percent.
The rest of the seats will be grasped by either side of the two contestants or a third party.
The Bihar Assembly polls will be held in five phases on Oct. 12, 16, 28, Nov. 1 and 5.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has campaigned heavily for the election for one of India's most populous and politically divided states.
A victory in Bihar election would be boost to the ruling alliance, which has met stiff opposition in Parliament in its land and labor reform plans as well as a slowdown of growth. Endi
