Nigerian expert applauds China-Africa health declaration

The immediate past commissioner for health in southwest Nigeria's Ogun State, Olaokun Soyinka on Thursday applauded the adoption of the Cape Town Declaration by Chinese and African health officials.

Soyinka who spoke with Xinhua in Abeokuta, the state capital, said the adoption of such a declaration between China and Africa would go a long way in enhancing the continent's medical sector.

The former World Health Organization (WHO) officer stated that the cooperation between China and the African countries would also benefit the citizens of the African countries.

He added that the cooperation would also bring about the transfer of technology and knowledge for the benefit of the health sector in Africa.

"I'm speaking as an individual and for me, this is not the first and of course, would not be the last of such generous cooperation between other countries and our continent to help us develop our health sector," Soyinka, former Health Promotion Officer with WHO told Xinhua.

"But most of the those agreements are best when it's a win-win situation," he added. Endit
