Uganda names squad for U-19 ICC World Cup qualifiers

Head Coach Henry Okecho on Thursday named the final squad that will represent Uganda at the International Cricket Council (ICC) U-19 World Cup Qualifiers.

The team is expected to fly out on Oct. 12 to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where the competition will take place from Oct. 16.

Uganda, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, the United States and Ireland will compete for the one slot to qualify for the ICC Youth World Cup slated for India in 2016.

"We have prepared well and the 14 players I have picked are the best players at the moment. Our target is to be at the World Cup," said Okecho.

Martin Ondeko, the team manager said they will remain in residential camp at the National Council of Sports (NCS) Hostel in Lugogo till Monday when they travel to Malaysia.

Following is the squad:

John Gabula, Brian Adriko, Kenneth Waiswa, Zephania Arinaitwe, Joseph Byaruhanga, Collins Okwalinga, Frank Akankwasa and Ashiraf Ssenkubuge, Simon Okecho, David Wabwire, Abdalla Lubega, Derrick Bakunzi, Trevor Bukenya and Steven Wabwose. Endit
