Indonesian administration sees decreasing public satisfaction: survey

Having governed the nation for one year, Indonesia's President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla saw decreasing public satisfaction over their performance as well as their cabinet, survey results published here on Thursday said.
According to the results of a recent survey carried out by an Indonesian prominent survey agency, Indo Barometer, respondents expressing their satisfactory with the performance of President Widodo accounted for 46 percent.
This figure comes up from 44.8 percent for those who said adequately satisfied and 1.2 percent who claimed of very satisfied.
The total 46 percent of respondents claimed of satisfied with the president was lower than 57.5 percent resulted from the previous survey held in March this year.
Equal results were also seen in respondents' satisfaction to Vice President Jusuf Kalla. Those claimed very satisfied to Jusuf' s performance accounted for 0.8 percent, while those claimed of adequately satisfied stood at 41.3 percent.
It makes total respondents claimed of satisfied with Jusuf stood at 42.1 percent, or lower than 53.3 percent resulted in March's survey.
The survey results also showed slightly decrease of respondents ' satisfaction to the cabinet performance from 46.8 percent resulted in March to 46.7 percent at present.
According to Indo Barometer Executive Director Mohammad Qodari, most of respondents expressed their dissatisfactory on economy sector, adding that they regarded government has failed to address issues related to the sector.
"Economy sector got the most attention here. When we asked about the failures committed by the president and vice president, their top-ranked answers were about the economy," Qodari told a press conference to publish the results of the survey.
Qodari said that failures of the present government in economy sector comprised of controlling the prices of staple food, incapable to overcome economy issues, decreasing value of national currency to U.S. Dollar and the increasing price of fuel.
The survey was conducted from Sept. 14 to 22, involving 1,200 respondents interviewed in 34 provinces across the nation.
Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla were inaugurated as Indonesia's seventh president and vice president pairing on Oct. 20 last year after gaining 53.15 percent votes in a democratic election. Endi
