WASHINGTON -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Wednesday said she does not support the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal, reached on Monday after marathon talks between the United States and 11 Pacific Rim nations.
"As of today, I'm not in favor of what I have learned about it," Clinton said in an interview with the PBS NewsHour, noting that she doesn't believe the deal will meet her "high bar" for creating good American jobs, raising wages and advancing national security.

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon confirmed on Wednesday the U.S. military had to divert at least one U.S. aircraft over Syria to avoid colliding with Russian planes.
There had been at least one close call between a Russian aircraft and a U.S. aircraft over Syria since Russia started its own airstrikes in Syria last week, Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis said at a briefing, without giving further details. (U.S.-Russia-Syria)

JERUSALEM -- Seventeen Arab Israelis were arrested by Israeli police as violent clashes spread to Israeli Arab cities on Wednesday, despite calls for calm on both Palestinian and Israeli sides.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army recaptured 70 kilometers of rebel-held territory in the central province of Hama, as the Syrian ground troops unleashed offensive Wednesday under the fire cover of the Russian war jets, the pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV reported.
The 50 kilometers of the retaken territory were under the control of the Jaish al-Fateh group, or the Conquer Army, an alliance of several jihadi groups, mainly the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front, said the report. The other 20 kilometers were under the control of other rebel groups.
