Brunei ends 3-day nationwide security exercise

Xinhua, October 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

A three-day nationwide crisis handling exercise in Brunei concluded on Wednesday with a success, the National Security Committee (NSC) of the Prime Minister's Office announced in a press statement.

The NSC said this is the fourth national exercise conducted in Brunei with previous exercises respectively in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

It is aimed to ensure that Brunei is ready and prepared to manage any form of emergency. This includes familiarizing all agencies with national contingency plans and procedures, enhancing decision making capabilities at times of crisis and assessing the effectiveness of national structures, plans, procedures and capabilities.

The NSC said government agencies need to adapt to new security risks, including the rapid growth of global terror networks, adding that it is reviewing current security measures to safeguard the country from external threats.

This exercise, the NSC said, is an opportunity to increase and improve the country's preparedness, resilience and coordination in the face of any potential disaster and security threats. Endi
