Philippine Dengue case reach 92,807 in first 9 months

The number of dengue cases in the Philippines reached 92,807 by Sept. 19, 23.5 percent higher compared to the same period of last year, according to the country 's department of health on Wednesday.

But the number of deaths is lower this year at 269, compared to 316 last year, according to the department.

Most of the cases have been recorded in the Central Luzon, Calabarzon, National Capital Region, Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, Cagayan Valley and Soccsksargen.

Janette Garin, secretary of the department, said authorities will install screens on the windows of public schools located in areas where there is high incidence of dengue, coordinating with the department of education.

Garin said they are targeting 20,000 classrooms in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, in Calabarzon and in Cordillera Autonomous Region. Endi
