Madrid defender Carvajal out for 2-3 weeks as Ramos aims barb at Benitez

Xinhua, October 7, 2015 Adjust font size:

Real Madrid full back Dani Carvajal will be out of action for between two and three weeks after damaging his right ankle in Sunday's Madrid derby against neighbors, Atletico Madrid.

The injury has already forced Carvajal to pull out of the Spain squad to face Luxembourg and Ukraine on October 9th and 12th and he has been replaced by Villarreal's Mario Gaspar.

Meanwhile Sergio Ramos was also forced to pull out of the Spain squad on Tuesday after it was confirmed that he aggravated a shoulder injury in the same match.

Ramos has been replaced by Real Madrid team-mate Nacho Fernandez, who has so far made just one appearance in his side's first seven league games of the season. However, before he left the Spain training camp, Ramos had a pointed message for Real Madrid coach, Rafael Benitez.

The central defender committed two huge errors which led to Atletico Madrid winning a first half penalty, which Keynor Navas subsequently saved, but which Benitez later made reference too.

"Maybe rather than talking about my error, people should talk about the substitutions," said Ramos in a clear barb aimed at the new Real Madrid coach.

On Monday night Benitez had defended his tactics and rejected accusations that he is a defensive coach, pointing out that his Napoli side had scored 104 goals. Endit
